HALL Dorothy Mae Hall Felter

died on June 2, 2013, at the age of 92. She was born onApril 7, 1921 in Pleasant Run, N.J., to the late Norwood S. and MargaretStevens Hall. After graduating from Clinton High School in New Jersey in theclass of 1938, she went on to complete beauty school. She then married EdwardE. Felter Jr. in 1940. After raising her family, she worked at local dressfactories, did clerical work at the Wyalusing School Office, and did bookkeeping for Bradford County Action, retiring on her 79th birthday. Dorothy lovedspending time with her family, especially her grandchildren andgreat-grandchildren. She enjoyed bowling with the Ottaviani Contacts team formany years and was an auxiliary member of the American Legion Post No. 534.She is survived by her daughter Pat Luttinen of Wyalusing; sons Keith (Rosanne)Felter of Rome, Wayne Felter of Wyalusing and Glenn Felter and special friendBrenda Robinson of Wyalusing; sister Ethel (Walter) Graham of Lebanon N.J.; anda brother Willard (Jean) Hall of Libby, Mont.; grandchildren Kathy (Robert)Lantz, Susan (Rollie) Conner, Edward E Felter IV, Hayden (Lisa) Felter, Col.Keith (Hailley) Felter Jr., Elizabeth (Michael) Mooney, Chris (Bettina) Felter,Wayne Felter II, Nicole Heeman, Angela (Adam) Oliver; numerous step-grandchildren;11 great-grandchildren; and many step-great-grandchildren. 75, of Brackney, PA, went home to be with the Lord onDec. 22, 2012. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, of six-years.He was predeceased by his second wife, Evelyn in 2005 and a brother,Roscoe. HANZOK Robert B. Hanzok, age 61, of 621 Lime Hill,Wyalusing, Pa., died on Monday, Jan. 17, 2011 at the Robert Packer Hospitalwith his loving family at his side. Bob was born July 21, 1949 inMinersville, Pa., son of Anne M. Steponaitis Hanzok and the late John J.Hanzok. His family moved to New Albany when he was an infant and he attendedSt. Basil's Elementary School and graduated from the Wyalusing High School, amember of the class of 1968. He attended Mansfield University and was called toservice with the U.S. Navy and was medically retired in Philadelphia. Hemarried the former Priscilla Welles of Wyalusing on Aug. 16, 1969. He beganworking in the Medical Equipment and Supply business, eventually owning his owncompany in South Jersey. They moved back to Wyalusing in 2000. HARDING - Jessie Mary Douglas, 92, of Hollenback, died Thursday evening,July 23, 2009, at the Skilled Nursing Unit in Towanda, Pa. She was bornon Dec. 14, 1916, a daughter of the late Lyle and Maude (NICHOLS)Harding. On June 24, 1939, Jessie married Jonathan "John"Douglas in Meshoppen, Pa. It was a loving and devoted marriage of over 61years. Her husband preceded her in death on Nov. 5, 2000. Jessie was aloving mother and care giver. She enjoyed attending the Hollenback UnitedMethodist Church. She and her husband enjoyed their time spent camping,and watching horse shows. She enjoyed tending her flower gardens, sheespecially loved playing dominoes, and found great pleasure in time spent withher family. on Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at the Wyalusing Personal Care Home, surrounded byher loving family. Jane was born on March 22, 1930 in Waverly, N.Y., a daughterof the late Duane and Frances Rowe Harris. She graduated from the LaceyvilleHigh School, Class of 1948, she then attended Elmira College. Jane marriedLincoln Welles of Wyalusing, Pa., on May 22, 1949. They celebrated their 61stwedding anniversary this past May. Jane was a member of the WyalusingPresbyterian Church, Wyalusing, Pa. Jane most valued her time spent with herfamily. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an avidgolfer, a member of the Towanda Country Club, Towanda, Pa., and Gulf HarborCountry Club, Fort Myers, Fla. Jane loved music. She played and taught thepiano for many years and accompanied many productions, including plays by BillKeeler, and musical performances at the Gulf Harbor Country Club. Jane was amember of the Wyalusing Choraliers and the Wyalusing Musical Society. She was apast president of the Towanda Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was a Girl Scoutleader as well as a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts. JOHNNIE HEEMAN III (PeeWee), age 53, of Wyalusing, Pennsylvania, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2018, at his home. Johnnie was born on July 16, 1965, the son of Johnnie (Tinker) Heeman Jr. (Johanna) of Wyalusing, Pennsylvania, and Theresa Wright Oakley (Robert) of Lakeland, Florida. Johnnie attended Wyalusing Valley High School. On May 26, 1984, he married the former Vickie Bailey and together they have four children. PeeWee was the owner and operator of Heeman Quarries. He attended Calvary Chapel in Wyalusing, Pennsylvania. He was a member of the National Rifle Association (NRA). He loved his Peterbilt Truck. He built his own smoker and he would barbecue various kinds of meat in it. PeeWee loved to hunt and fish, but fishing was his favorite. But most of all, PeeWee loved being with his family. Besides his parents, PeeWee is survived by his wife of 34 years, Vickie Heeman of Wyalusing, Pennsylvania; his four children, Chauncey Spearing and her fiancé Greg Naylor of Bear Creek, Pennsylvania; Johnnie Heeman IV and his fiancée Michelle Fassett of Wyalusing, Pennsylvania, they are to be married on Oct. 13, 2018; Brent Heeman and his wife Autumn of Laceyville, Pennsylvania; Kevin Heeman of Wyalusing, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Aubrey, Brielle, Kaitlin, Johnnie V., Maddison, Bella, Lily, Bradyn, Avery, and Bristyn. HICKS –BARBARA NOREEN SMITH, age 83, of Wyalusing, Pennsylvania passed away on Friday afternoon, Aug. 4, 2017 at the Skilled Nursing Unit at Guthrie Towanda Memorial Hospital. Barb was born on Dec. 7, 1933 in Binghamton, New York, the daughter of the late Clarence and Betty Hicks. She graduated from Montrose High School with the class of 1951 and from Mansfield State Teachers College in 1955. She grew up in Fairdale, Pennsylvania and remained there until she married her husband Paul T. Smith on June 18, 1955. After they were married, Barb and Paul settled in Wyalusing, Pennsylvania. Barb taught second grade, for three years from 1955-1958, at Wyalusing Elementary School. Barb and Paul had two children: Suzanne and Jeffery. After the children began school Barb became a part-time teacher in the Wyalusing School District until her retirement. Barb was a member of the Wyalusing United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was in charge of the altar flowers for many years. She was a member of the Wyalusing Lioness Club for 35 years. She was a former member of the Wyalusing Chapter 523 of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Fortnightly Club. She enjoyed volunteering as part of the Grandparent Program at the Wyalusing Elementary School for several years and loved working with the children. She also volunteered with the Meals on Wheels and the Bloodmobile for many years. She enjoyed camping at Bonin Lake and taking trips especially to Myrtle Beach and Alaska. She loved feeding the birds, planting different flowers for each season, and decorating the house inside and out each holiday. Barb is survived by her husband of 62 years, Paul T. Smith of Wyalusing, Pennsylvania; her son, Jeffrey T. Smith, of Wyalusing, Pennsylvania; her daughter, Suzanne E. Morgan and her husband Jack of Black Walnut, Pennsylvania; her grandchildren Aaron Eastabrook and his wife Lindsay of LeRaysville, Pennsylvania, and Cody Morgan and his wife Nicole of Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania; her great grandchildren, Chasity and Dylan Eastabrook; her brother, Louis Hicks and his wife Marge; as well a several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her sister and her husband Sandra and Douglas Adriance; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Carrie Smith; and her sister-in-law, Jane Phillips. KENNETH R. HIGLEY SR., age 88 well known resident of New Era, Pa., passed away peacefully on Friday, April 17, 2015 at home with his family by his side. Kenneth was born on Oct. 18, 1926 in Lincoln Falls, Pa., a son of the late Ralph and Lelah McCarty Higley. He grew up on the family farm in Lincoln Falls, and would attend Estella School. He continued farming, moving to Rome, Pa. for a few years and then back to his family farm. Around then he met the former Jane English of Binghamton, N.Y. at a square dance at the Wilmot Grange. They were married on April 5, 1952 at the New Era Church, having just celebrated their 63rd anniversary. Kenneth started farming in New Era where he and Jane currently live. He worked as a Terry Township supervisor for 25 years, having served as past vice-president. Kenneth was a member of the New Era Methodist Church. He enjoyed square dancing having traveled all over Pennsylvania and southern New York to square dances. He liked playing pinochle, snowmobiling, swimming, gardening for the family, and mowing lawns. He was an avid hunter, especially deer and turkey. HOFFMAN - Donald L. Hoffman, age 84, ofWyalusing, Pa., diedpeacefully on Thursday morning, Jan. 15, 2009, athome. Don was born in Terrytown, Pa., on April 20, 1924, the son of thelate George and Anna Shaffer Hoffman. He attended Wyalusing High School. Afterschool he joined the U.S. Army during WWII, during which he served in thePhilippines. After the war he returned to Wyalusing, where he met and marriedthe former Patricia Welles on Feb. 2, 1952. Soon after coming home, Don went towork for Serafini Construction Company. Then he worked at GTE Sylvania fromwhich he retired in 1986 after 35 years of service. Don was a member ofthe American Legion Post 534, Wyalusing, Pa. He was a past member of theWyalusing Borough Council. He was a jack of all trades. HOWARD DONALD HOFFMAN, 85 beloved husband, fatherand grandfather of Standing Stone Township, Pa., and Hernando, Fla., formerlyof New Albany, Pa., died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007, at the Cleveland Clinic,Cleveland, Ohio following complications from surgery. Born May 16, 1921,in Wyalusing, Pa., he was the son of the late Conry Joseph Hoffman and EdithMay Crowl Hoffman. On July 14, 1942, Howard entered the U.S. Army AirForce, where he served with the 488th Base Unit Squadron D during World War II,until Feb. 22, 1946 when he received his honorable discharge. OnAug. 24, 1946, Howard married the former L. Carol McClintock in Waterford, Pa.,and they returned to the New Albany area where they resided for manyyears. Howard was employed by E.I. DuPont in Towanda for 37 years untilhis retirement in January of 1983. He was a member of the New AlbanyBaptist Church and Parish and was an active member of the New Albany TownCouncil and New Albany Volunteer Fire Department for many years. Howardenjoyed gardening, fishing, old coins and old cars. Surviving are: hiswife of 60 years, L. Carol McClintock Hoffman, at home; his daughter, Dr. NancyE. Hoffman of Hartford, Conn.; his son, Bruce D. 84, of 517 Hogan Rd., Sugar Run, PA (Sugar Hill) passedaway late Thursday evening, Jan. 24, 2013. Lynn, also known as Pop, was born onFeb. 18, 1928 in Weehawken, NJ, the son of the late Philip Christopher andGertrude Lynn Hogan. Lynn served his country in the U.S. Army during the KoreanWar. Pop drove school bus in the Wyalusing Valley School District formany years. He was also a chef. He was a member of the Wyalusing AmericanLegion Post #534. ROBERT C. HONEYWELL, age 75, of Quicks Bend, Wilmot Township, PA, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2020, at the Guthrie Towanda Memorial Hospital. Robert was born on May 22, 1945, in Sugar Run, PA the son of the late Cory K. and Leona A. Freeman Honeywell. He married the former Sharon Kellock of Towanda, PA on March 27, 1965. They celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary before her passing on July 11, 2011. Robert retired in 1997 after 31 years of service with PennDOT. He later drove truck for John Preston Logging and Johnson Quarries.He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed riding his Harley touring the local countryside. JAMES J. HOOVER, 46, of Main Street, Towanda died Monday morning at the Skilled Nursing Unit of Towanda Memorial Hospital after a lingering illness.Born in Sayre on Aug. 30, 1939 he was the son of the late Andrew R. Mr. Hoover was a lifetime resident of Towanda and among his many interests he was most fond of playing pool, a sport in which he played often and excelled in. He was a member of many pool teams throughout his life and an officer for the Rub-a-Dub Pub team in Towanda. Survivors include his former wife, Sharon Allan and daughter, Shannon of Troy; sisters, Mrs. Joseph (Julie) McGee of East Towanda and Mrs. John (Evelyn) Carpenter of Waterford, PA; three nephews: Joseph and Vance McGee of East Towanda and Allen Carpenter of Waterford and a niece, Christine Carpenter of Waterford. MR. LLOYD STANLEY HUFFMAN, age 85, of Wyalusing, passed away on Monday, April 28, 2014 at the Bradford County Manor, West Burlington Twp., Pa. Lloyd was born on March 24, 1929, in Wyalusing, Pa., son of the late Frederick G. and Georgia Meeks Huffman. He was a member of the last class to graduate from the "old" Wyalusing High School in the class of 1947. He met the former Kathryn Kuhnle of Wilmot, Pa. at a square dance and they were married on April 3, 1948. They continued dancing the rest of their days, recently celebrating their 66th wedding anniversary. In the early years he worked on his family farm, and then went to work for Welles Mill Feed Co. He and two brothers started and ran Huffman Brothers Trucking for a number of years. In 1965 he went to work for Sylvania, from which he later retired after 26 years of service. Lloyd enjoyed camping with the children when the kids were young, then continued camping and extensive traveling with Kathryn throughout the US and abroad. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren; he enjoyed making bikes, trikes, and wagons for them. Lloyd lost his sight in July of 2006 and was able to make only one more bus trip to Florida. Lloyd was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, as well as a member of their choir. Lloyd was a member of the Wyalusing Senior Citizens group, as well as a fifty year member of the International Order of Odd Fellows. He was a member of the Wyalusing Fire Department, where he drove the ambulance, and together with Kathryn, they ran the chicken barbeque at the annual fireman's carnival for over 40 years. Lloyd founded the local Wyalusing and Wysox Alcoholics Anonymous chapters. He also volunteered at Park Place Senior Center, as well as volunteering at Guthrie Hospice for eleven years. Surviving are: spouse, Kathryn; daughters and sons-in-law, Nanette and Jim Good of Towanda, Pa., Adele and Charles Hix of Burton, Ohio, Janet and Tom Nowak of East Aurora, N.Y.; son and daughter-in-law, William and Ruth Huffman of West Palm Beach, Fla.; sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Larry Kneller of Camptown, Pa.; sister-in-law, Margaret (Peggy) Huffman of Wyalusing, Pa.; grandchildren, Melinda, Erica, Brianne, Jared, Laura, Jeffrey, Kristyna, and Kevin; great-grandson, Jason Hoffman; several nieces and nephews. JAMES WALTER ‘JIM’HUFFMAN, age 56, of Sugar Run, Pennsylvania, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Oct. 29, 2018 after an unfortunate tractor accident. Jim was born on Nov. 25, 1961 in Towanda, Pennsylvania, the son of the late John Levi (d. March, 2017) and Patricia Ann Potter Huffman (d. August 2006). He married the love of his life, Gayle Cruikshank, on July 21, 1990. Together they raised three amazing daughters and built a family together in which there could be no stronger bond. Jim was an extremely loving and devoted husband, and made sure that his wife knew just how much he loved her each and every day. The love he had for his wife and daughters will be cherished as such a sweet memory. He was a graduate of Wyalusing Valley High School with the class of 1980. He received his bachelors degree in art and studio art from Bloomsburg University and his teachers degree from Lycoming College in 1987. After graduating from Lycoming College, he began his dedicated career at the Wyalusing Area School District as an art teacher and then moved to teaching sixth grade until his retirement until 2017. Jim was very involved with the school. He was the head football coach of the junior high program for many years and became the varsity football coach from 2007-2012. He currently was coaching with his wife, Gayle, the high school volleyball team. He was very proud of all of his accomplishments as a coach, including an NTL title in football in 2009 and District IV title in volleyball in 2014, but most importantly he was proud to guide his student athletes to be better people. Jim was a member of the Wyalusing United Methodist Church and trustee for the church. He was an Eagle Scout with Troup 8 in Wyalusing. He was a member of the PA Football Coaches Association, the Wyalusing Extra Point Club and the Hall of Fame Club. He took great pride in coordinating the annual sixth-grade Salute to Veterans luncheon held at the Wyalusing Elementary School. He enjoyed watching Penn State football, the Kansas City Chiefs, and all of the Wyalusing sports events. Jim thoroughly enjoyed farming. Most of all he loved his family and cherished the moments he spent with them, whether it would be sitting around a campfire, following his daughters’ activities, or joking around with them. He will be missed by many and will always be remembered by how he thought of everyone else first and was always there to help out with a huge smile on his face. Everyone who met Jim, knew how big his heart was and made a lasting impression on our community. She retired in 1976. Bea loved being homeworking in her vegetable and flower gardens until she was 96 years old anddecided she had to slow down. RONALD LAVERNE JOHNSON SR., 68, well-known resident ofTerrytown, died unexpectedly Thursday evening, Feb. 10, 2005, at MemorialHospital of Towanda. Born Feb. 27, 1936, in Sayre, he was the son of thelate Admiral Johnson and Florence Mosier Johnson. Ronald was a graduatedof Towanda High School Class of 1955. On Dec. 31, 1955, he married theformer Doris Louise Chilson in North Towanda. Following graduation fromhigh school, Ronald became employed by the Pennsylvania Department ofTransportation in Towanda and remained there for his entire career of 40 yearsuntil his retirement in October of 1995. He was a member of the NationalTrappers Association, the National Rifle Association and the Robwood MountainGun Club. Ronald enjoyed attending local sporting activities and was anavid fan of local auto racing events. He greatly loved his grandchildrenand spending time with them and enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, trapping,hunting and fishing. MR. SETH JOHNSTON, age 88, well known Wyalusing resident, passed away suddenly on Thursday, March 27, 2014 after a brief illness, at the Tyler Memorial Hospital, in Tunkhannock, Pa. Seth was born on Aug. 21, 1925, in DuBois, Pa., a son of the late R. Chester and M. Elizabeth Clarke Johnston. He attended Dubois High School, until quitting at the age of 16 to enlist in the United States Navy, where his duties were to navigate and load torpedoes on a submarine in the Pacific. Upon being honorably discharged he returned to Dubois where he met and then married the former Isabelle Benny of DuBois on Sept. 10, 1948. Seth was a graduate of Penn State University earning a bachelor's degree in education in 1951, and later earning two Master's degrees in 1956 and 1963 respectively. During these years he and Belle moved to Estella in Sullivan County where Seth taught school. Seth and Belle operated the Sweet Shop in Eagles Mere for over 10 years, during which time he learned to make homemade candy, being especially known for his chocolate covered marshmallows. They moved to Wyalusing in 1957 when Seth began teaching at the Wyalusing Valley High School, later transitioning into the guidance counselor which he did for a majority of his career, he retired in 1993. In retirement he continued as a G.E.D. examiner. Seth was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, Wyalusing, Pa. He was an active supporter and board member of Bradford County Action. He was a past board member of the Tyler Memorial Hospital. Also a past board member of the Bradford/Sullivan Mental Health-Mental Retardation Program. He also held his real estate broker's license, as well as a licensed psychologist. Seth was a member of American Legion Post No. 534. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, he was an avid hunter and fly fisherman. He loved Penn State sports especially football, and New York Yankee baseball. JONES - Roy Wellington Jones, 90, of Wyalusing,PA, died on Thursday, March 20, 2008, at the family home on Taylor Avenue. Bornin Wilkes-Barre, PA, on March 27, 1917, Roy was the son of Roy G. C. Jones andVirgilia Taylor Jones of Wyalusing, where he spent his early years. He wasnamed in honor of his father, Roy G. C. Jones, who was a prominent BradfordCounty politician, and his grandfather, Alonzo Wellington Jones, who fought forPennsylvania in the Civil War. His great-great grandfather, John A. Jones,fought in the American Revolution. These connections nurtured Roy’s life-longinterest in his Jones and Taylor family heritage and continuing a familytradition of public service. After spending most of his professional career inRochester, NY, Roy returned to the family home in Wyalusing for a very activeretirement and leaves a remarkable legacy of community, state and nationalpublic service. He graduated from Wyalusing High School in 1934 aspresident of his class and from the Elmira Business Institute in 1936. He alsoattended the Rochester Institute of Technology and the University of Buffalo.He joined the Kraft Cheese Company in 1936 and worked in New York (Elmira and Rochester)and Illinois (Peoria and Chicago) for six years. In 1942, he joined theStromberg-Carlson Company in Rochester, which later became the ElectronicsDivision of the General Dynamics Corporation. His assignments in support ofU.S. national defense activities took him to plants in California, Oklahoma,Florida, New Jersey, Connecticut and New York. He served in many managementpositions, including Director of Operations, Director of Industrial Relationsand Plant Manager in Rochester prior to his retirement in February 1979. Roywas a life-long Presbyterian and served as Deacon and Elder in Rochester’sTwelve Corners Presbyterian Church, Clerk of Session Emeritus of the WyalusingPresbyterian Church and Vice-Moderator of the Presbytery of Lackawanna inPennsylvania. He was also a life member of the Wyalusing Masonic Lodge #618,the Scottish Rite Consistory in Rochester and the Irem Temple Shrine inWilkes-Barre. JOSEPH AUGUST KEBLITSCH, age 67, of Wyalusing, Pa., passed away on Feb. 29, 2016, after a long battle with cancer. Joe was born in Klagenfurt, Austria, on Dec. 29, 1948, a son of Wilhelmine Berger Keblitsch and the late August Keblitsch. He graduated from Rochester High School (Rochester, Pa.) a member of the class of 1966. He attended Duquesne University, where he received his undergraduate degree in Music Education, followed by a master's degree in music from Duquesne University and an MBA from Clarion University. Joe also served honorably in the U.S. Army for two years. Joe was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and was a friend to many. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Deborah; a daughter, Dana (Jason) Gladstone, of Fairfield, Conn.; two sons, Justin of Wyalusing, Pa., and Tristan of Los Angeles, Calif.; mother, Wilhelmine of Rochester, Pa.; two sisters, Mary Ann (Rick) Glass of Baltimore, Md. and Mina Justis of Bel Air, Md.; three grandchildren, Thomas and Jonathan Gladstone, and Shane Keblitsch; along with several nieces and nephews in the Baltimore area. In 1987, Joe and his family relocated to Wyalusing, where he began his career as the Business Manager for the Wyalusing Area School District. He retired in January 2011, after 25 years of dedicated service. During that time he served on the Wyalusing Education Foundation and the Association of Pennsylvania School Business Managers. Earlier in his career, he was a music teacher for the Tionesta, Pa., school district. Joe was a member of St. Mary Church, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, Wyalusing, Pa. He served for a number of years as the church choir director for St. Mary's, and previously as choir director at St. Joseph's Parish, Oil City, Pa. He was a member of the Wyalusing Lions Club for 25 years, as well as the ASRA Ski Race Association for 20 years. He was a highly accomplished classical pianist and composer, and had a great love for skiing, ski racing, boating, snorkeling, scuba diving, and riding his motorcycle. He was deeply passionate about nature and believed in living life to the fullest. A transferal service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2016 from the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 1 Grovedale Lane, Wyalusing, Pa., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Wyalusing, Pa. with the Rev. Joseph J. Wyalusing Mayor Barbara “Bobbi” (Keeler) Lord fell victim to cancer Mondayevening, Jan. 21, 2008 at her home on Wyalusing’s Second Street. Whileshe had been waging a battle with lung cancer since October 2006, her suddendeath came unexpectedly and was a shock to her family and friends. BarbaraLouise Keeler Lord was born on June 17, 1943, in Towanda, PA, a daughter of thelate U.S. Air Force Colonel John Wells Keeler and Elinor Snyder Keeler. Bobbispent the first 10 years of her life in Wyalusing, but later traveled with herparents to assignments at U.S. Air Force Bases around the world. The experiencegave her a unique perspective on life and a special appreciation for theuniqueness of the small rural Pennsylvania community where she spent her earlyyears. Bobbi lived in Arizona, Delaware, Virginia, the Philippines and Coloradoas an “Air Force Brat.” She earned a journalism degree at Denver University,while her father was serving as public relations officer at the U.S. Air ForceAcademy, which is where she also met the young cadet who was to be her husbandof 33 years, USAF Academy graduate Kenneth Lord. They were married at St.Mary’s Church in Wyalusing in November 1966. Bobbi and Ken enjoyed their lifetogether at its fullest. They skied the mountains of Colorado and Utah and alsobecame avid climbers. Bobbi found employment as head of public relations forthe Stratosphere Casino in Las Vegas, while Ken, who reached the rank of major,continued his career as a USAF fighter pilot. Bobbi later worked as a realestate agent in Las Vegas. She was predeceased by Ken, who died in 1999. Bobbireturned to Wyalusing in 1998 and opened the Brewed Awakening Coffee and GiftShop on Wyalusing’s Main Street with her sister, Sherri. They decorated theinterior with old photos and other family memorabilia, and it became a popularmorning meeting place as well as a lunch stop. Soon after her return toWyalusing, Bobbi began writing for the Rocket-Courier, the local weeklynewspaper which has been owned by five generations of her family. Her fatherwas serving as publisher of the paper when he was killed in a plane crash in1979. Bobbi was elected Mayor of Wyalusing in November 2005. She openedcommunications with state police in Towanda who agreed to increase patrols inWyalusing where the local police force had been disbanded. She also pressedcouncil to rejuvenate the local police department without success. Her finalduty as mayor was to give the oath of office to new and re-elected members ofthe Wyalusing Borough Council on Jan. 7, 2008. She was gravely ill at the time.Bobbi was diagnosed with lung cancer in October 2006. When members of thecommunity learned of this, they responded with a benefit for Bobbi thefollowing January, which included a chicken dinner at the fire hall and anauction. Attendance was wonderful, thousands of dollars were raised, and Bobbiwas overwhelmed by the outpouring of support. During her taxing struggle toovercome cancer, Bobbi maintained her sense of humor and continued to be activein the community. In an article appearing in the Rocket-Courier in November of2007, announcing that she had been named honorary chairperson of Wyalusing’s2008 Relay for Life, Bobbi told Wes Skillings: “Cancer has strengthened myfaith. I’m not afraid of dying, but I’m in no hurry and have this inner feelingthat God hasn’t finished with me yet on earth.” Along with serving as mayor,Bobbi also had served as President of the Greater Wyalusing Chamber ofCommerce, secretary of the Wyalusing Rainbow Club, Wyalusing Valley Museum,WIDCO (Wyalusing Industrial Development Corporation) and Wyalusing CommunityCorps. She was recently named an elder at the Wyalusing Presbyterian Church.She leaves surviving her sister and brother in law, Sherida R. Keeler Schreierand Larry Schreier of Sugar Run, PA; her closest friend, Lorraine Murnane ofWyalusing, who was with Bobbi at her home when she died; a nephew, John Keeler;nieces, Hannah Vaughan and Margaret Keeler, all of Texas; a niece, MicheleGilbert Hughes of Albany, NY; a sister-in-law, Jeanette Keeler of Texas, andnumerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Along with her parents and former husband,Bobbi was predeceased by her brother, John Jay Keeler, who died in June 2005. Amemorial service has been scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008, at 11 a.m. inthe Wyalusing Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Barry Ballard, her pastor,officiating. Bobbi Lord comes by her roots naturally. Although she haslived away from Wyalusing longer than she has been here, the first 10 years ofher life and most of the last 10 have been right here in her hometown. Born BarbaraKeeler in a community shaped by generations of her ancestors, including morethan a century of family ownership of this newspaper, Bobbi is also the Mayorof Wyalusing, and not the only member of the family to hold that office. Thelatest honor bestowed upon her is bittersweet. She has been chosen as theHonorary Chair of the 2008 Wyalusing Relay for Life, and that will becomeofficial at a kickoff event for the cancer fundraiser on Wednesday, Dec. 12.That’s the sweet part, of course, and then there is the part about havingcancer. She is both a survivor and a cancer patient, and the last year has beena mix of highs and lows. “Cancer has strengthened my faith,” she saystoday. “I’m not afraid of dying, but I’m in no hurry and have this inner feelingthat God hasn’t finished with me yet on earth.” The past year, startingback in October 2006 when she was diagnosed with lung cancer, has been the mosttrying in her life, but she says it also helped her understand what “an amazingplace” Wyalusing is. She has family and friends here and, in fact, her youngersister, Sherri, returned to Wyalusing first, back in 1995 following the deathof their mother, Elinor, in 1994. Their father, a genuine military hero, diedin a plane crash near Gettysburg in the summer of 1979 after returning to hishometown Wyalusing. “This was always home to us. I love this place somuch.” She can say this now, though confessing that when she was younger, thethought of returning to Wyalusing to live wouldn’t have occurred to her. Itseems their whole family has followed the lead of their parents. Older brother,Jay, returned to Wyalusing for a few years before moving back to Texas. Jaywould become a casualty of cancer himself, passing away in June of 2005. WithBobbi and Jay being barely a year apart in age, losing him was even morepersonal for her, and little did she know cancer would intrude emphaticallyinto her life literally months after mourning her brother’s death. It allstarted with a bad cold in the early fall of 2006. She couldn’t seem to shakeit. It hung on well beyond the tenure of even the peskiest bronchial condition,and she had an ominous feeling something really bad was coming. Because of thatdread, her initial diagnosis was actually welcomed. It was pneumonia, she wasinformed. But it wasn’t long before the truth came out with the diagnosis oflung cancer. Her year’s journey with cancer has been replete with ups anddowns. It has included learning while she was still being treated for non-smallcell lung cancer that there was cancer in her brain in the form of three smalltumors. Month of treatments for first one, then the other, ended with a joyouspronouncement in September of this year that she was cancer free. However, somesix weeks after that, from a follow-up MRI and CAT Scan, she was informed thatseveral tumors were now in the liver. It was back to chemotherapy treatments,with some good news on the side that both the lungs and brain remained clear ofcancer. She was to have her second “chemo” treatment for the liver cancer onMonday of this week, but the white cell count was a little low and that waspostponed. “I have been healthy all of my life, until this cancer thingcame along,” she says as if talking about catching a flu bug. “I learned that Ihave been blessed with a strong immune system.” The immune system thathas served her so well has taken a beating, she concedes, and she sometimesworries whether it will hold up. However, her other trump card is the excellentand caring treatment she says she has received from Guthrie specialists, namelyDr. Jeffrey P. Allerton, who presides over her chemotherapy, and Dr. GaryProulx, head of radiation oncology. “They make every patient feel likethe most important person in the world,” she says of the staffs of bothdepartments. Bobbi endured two rounds of radiation—back in mid-March whenshe went every day of the week for strategically applied doses of radiation tozap the lung cancer and, after the brain cancer diagnosis, when she endured 15sessions. The treatments have done their job, but they have also takensomething of a toll. One of the chemo co*cktails has significantly robbed her ofher hearing, requiring hearing aids equipped with mute buttons, which, shejokes, may come in handy for those she doesn’t want to listen to. The radiationtreatments for the brain cancer appear to have made her hair loss permanent.That’s something no woman wants to hear, but she’s got the wigs to counterthat. Lung cancer almost always starts in the lining of the bronchi, and it maytake years to develop, with no symptoms or solid evidence, such as tumors, tobetray its existence. After pre-cancerous becomes true cancer, that’s whenblood vessels form to nourish cancer cells which form a tumor that eventuallybecomes large enough to detect on an x-ray. Then there is the element ofmetastasis, which is the process allowing cancer cells to break away and go toother parts of the body. Since lung cancer takes so long to detect, significantspreading may have taken place by the time it has been diagnosed. Non-smallcell lung cancer, or NSCLC, is the most common type, and smoking is a majorcause. For Bobbi, who quit a few months before she was diagnosed with lungcancer after smoking most of her adult life, it goes beyond the obvious regretof putting her health at risk. She admits feeling guilty and rather foolish forsmoking despite all the evidence out there that it was shortening her life. Oneof the low points of her journey was awakening from surgery that was supposedto remove her lung cancer and being told that it had become too large forsurgical removal. She says that if she hadn’t still been groggy from the drugs,she might not have taken the bad news so well. By the time she had returnedhome, however, the disappointment had taken its toll. “I broke down then whennobody could see me,” she says. The other low part was being told she had braincancer and, upon receiving that word from her doctor’s office that this was thecase, she was told that she needed to get there as soon as possible. “Iwas thinking that they must be expecting me to die at any time,” she recalledof that trip to Sayre. It turned out they just wanted to make certain she wasproperly informed before they proceeded with an amended course of treatment.She says that more than a year of dealing with cancer offers plenty ofoccasions to contemplate her mortality, especially when she is alone.Ironically, she is inspired every time she goes to the oncology department. Asign on one of the secretary’s computers proclaims: “If God brings you to it,He will bring you through it.” It is a powerful reminder facing her everytime she sits and awaits her next treatment. “I see that every time I go forchemo, and I think of it often in between. It’s true. He is getting me throughit. I have lost a few battles during the year, but I sincerely feel like I’mgoing to win the war.” When you have faced three different cancerdiagnoses in the course of a year, it could be easy to start feeling sorry foryourself. Indeed, Bobbi admits she has been her own guest of honor at anoccasional pity party, but those periods of frustration and doubt areshort-lived. She credits a lot of that to the special place she calls home.“Sometimes I have to be reminded that I am a walking miracle. I’ll be feelingsorry for myself because of aches and pains and then remember that a year ago Ihad a cancerous tumor that was too big to operate on. I thought that was adeath sentence. “Instead, I found hundreds of people praying for me and takingcare of me and today I’m walking around feeling pretty good. God sent me lotsof angels to make a miracle.”

KEELER William Wells Keeler

Well known and widely respected Wyalusing publisher andcommunity leader, died Friday evening at the Robert Packer Hospital following alengthy illness. He was 57. Mr. Keeler, owner and publisher of theWyalusing Rocket-Courier, was a native of Wyalusing and spent most of his lifein that community. Born March 21, 1923, he was the son of the late J.George and Hazel WELLS Keeler, his father being the former postmaster of thecommunity and his mother prominent in musical circles in the area. Hegraduated from Wyalusing High School in 1941 and was active in its alumniassociation. After graduation, he served in the United States Navy as aradioman and later as a musician in the Seventh Fleet Navy Band until 1945,seeing service in the northwest Pacific and Australia. He later graduatedfrom Parson's School of Design, New York City in 1946. He returned toWyalusing in 1947 to edit and publish the Wyalusing Rocket and Wyoming CountyCourier with his brother John W. Keeler. He became the sole editor andpublisher in 1950 when John returned to military service during the KoreanWar. For a time he published The Wyoming County News at Tunkhannock whichlater he merged with the Rocket and Courier. He was known for his abilityand fearless speaking out against conditions he considered wrong. Theversatile publisher won many awards in art exhibitions, notably his landscapepaintings. One on Mr. Keeler's painting is part of the permanentcollection at the Everhard Museum in Scranton and another is part of theprivate collection of former Gov. William Scranton. Bill Keeler alsoplayed the Hammond organ professionally and composed several songs. Up tothe time of his death, Mr. Keeler was writing a history of Wyalusing.Bill Keeler served two four year terms as mayor of Wyalusing, during which timehe inaugurated many civic programs for the community, including the summer filmfestivals, the annual community clean-up days and weekly dances for the youngpeople. He devoted much time to making the town aware of its appearanceand potential. During the 1976 U.S. Bicentennial, Mr. Keeler served ascommunity chairman of the Bicentennial Committee, on appointment of theWyalusing Borough Council. As such, he directed various projects,including the Bicentennial Museum, the visitation of the Bicentennial WagonTrain, published a brochure concerning the town's history, arranged a specialJuly 4th program on the post office mall at the time the new flag pole, whichhe had campaigned to acquire, was formerly dedicated. He also wroteportions, composed some of the words and music and helped direct and produceWyalusing's Bicentennial pageant, "Free For All." Duringhis lifetime, Bill made tape recordings of many area residents telling thehistory of this region, these tapes providing an interesting insight into thearea's past. The tapes have been given to the Wyalusing Public Libraryfor its archives. In 1977, Mr. Keeler was named the area's "Man ofthe Year," an honor he richly deserved. He was a member of theWyalusing Valley Volunteer Fire Company and former chaplain in the AmericanLegion Post 534; member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars; Wyalusing RainbowClub; Wyalusing Lions Club member; and a member of the United PresbyterianChurch; served as president for many years of the Wyalusing Public LibraryBoard of Trustees; member of the Wyalusing Business People's Association; and amember of the Laceyville Rotary. He worked in farming for several years and later drove a milktruck. He spent most of his life as a truck drive for Strickland Beverageof Towanda, where he worked for many years until retiring. Harry Leroy Keeney, 87, of First Street, Wyalusing, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002,at the Wyalusing Personal Care and Retirement Home, Wyalusing. Harry was bornJan. 7, 1914, in Colley, a son of Leroy B. and Ruth Bunnell Keeney. He spenthis childhood on Sugar Hill and attended the Sugar Hill and Sugar Runelementary schools, and later, the Wyalusing High School. On March 1,1940, he married Evelyn Potter of Sugar Hill and they moved to Wyalusing. Thecouple is well-known in the Wyalusing area, where Evelyn was a teacher andHarry worked driving truck for Robert Capwell. He also worked at the WyalusingPlaning Mill for Earl Gamble and at McCarty's Garage. In the wintertime, he cutice at Mountain Springs. By the time of his marriage, Harry was working forGlen Arey Lumber in Wyalusing, and later, Wysox, from which he retired as aforeman after over 35 years of service. Harry's hobbies included fishing,hunting, baseball and bowling. He belonged to several fishing and huntingclubs, played baseball for the Sugar Hill traveling team, and was one of thefirst bowlers at Mountainside Lanes in Wyalusing when it opened. Hismemberships included the Wyalusing Methodist Church, the IOOF (Odd Fellows),and the Wyalusing Valley Fire Co., where he was honored last year as the 2001Veteran of the Year. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn, at home; son, RobertHarry Keeney of Lewes, Del.; daughter, Barbara Heyman of Wyalusing; brothers,Norman Keeney of Sayre and Walter Keeney of Allentown; sister, Mrs. Mary Greenof Orlando, Fla.; granddaughter, Christine Heyman of Baltimore; and numerousnieces and nephews. He met Cheryl Ross of Wyalusing, PA and on June 12, 1973, they were married. They celebrated their 45th anniversary in 2018. Over the years Scott had many varied interests and enterprises. Until retiring in 2015 he owned and operated Keeney’s Excavating. Scott loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed his woodworking hobby and it showed throughout his home for all to see. He enjoyed making gifts for his children. Scott also liked hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. He was a member of the Wyalusing American Legion Post No. 534. Scott was a former EMT and he volunteered with the Wyalusing Ambulance Assn., the HOPS Ambulance Assn. and the Wysox Ambulance Assn. Man dies in accident at Craftmaster. State police at Towanda haveidentified the 63-year-old truck driver who died in an accident Friday morningat CraftMaster Inc. on Leisure Drive in Wysox Township as Ray E. Keeney Jr. ofNichols, N.Y. Police said the death occurred at around 6 a.m. at the heavytruck entrance to the factory at the weigh scales area of Craftmaster Inc.According to police, the investigation revealed that Keeney was standing besidehis tree-loaded semi-tractor and trailer awaiting entrance into the factory,and it appeared that he was adjusting the load straps while standing on thepavement by his trailer. At the same time, police said, a separate semi-tractortrailer vehicle was exiting the factory and had stopped after exiting the scalearea. Police said Keeney fell back and landed under the trailer rear axle atthe same time of the exiting semi-tractor and trailer. Police said his headbecame wedged under the tire of the exiting trailer's axle. Bradford CountyCoroner Tom Carman said Keeney was pronounced dead at 7:01 a.m. Neither personwas an employee of CraftMaster, the coroner said. According to police, anautopsy is being conducted due to the incident being an industrial-relatedaccident. State police said Keeney's death was accidental.

CHARLES S. KILE of Moxie, passed away on Dec. 25, 2019 at his home with his wife by his side. Born Jan. 14, 1936 in Wilkes Barre, he was the son of the late Austin Miller Kile and Elsie Dixon Kile. Charles graduated from Tunkhannock High School with the class of 1954. At the age of 24 Charles was welcomed into the US Army and served at Fort Knox, Kt. He was employed at Glidon Paint Factory in Cleveland, Ohio. He also worked as a dairy farmer and with the Masonite Corporation. In 1976 he began his career as a truck driver with A.B. Cole in Meshoppen and various other companies before retiring from Penns Best in Meshoppen, in 2002. Charles loved German Shepherds and raised them until 2000. He also had a love for watching and feeding birds. Charles was a die-hard fan of the New York Giants and Penn State football. In his spare time Charles loved going camping and hunting, he also had a fondness for country music and square dancing. It was at a dance where he met his wife Sally. They were married in June of 1973 at the Spring Hill Methodist Church. KINNEY - Frank Dalton "Banky" Kinney, 76, of Wyalusing,died on Monday, Jan. 5, 2009, at his home. He was born on Sept. 4, 1932,in Towanda, Pa., a son of the late Frank and Catherine (Dalton) Kinney. He is aU.S. Navy and Marine Corps veteran who served as a medic. On Nov. 22, 1956,Frank married the former June Moyer Kinney in St. Mary's Church in Wyalusing, andthe Kinney's recently celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary. Prior tohis retirement in 1991, Frank was a supervisor in the Metallurgist Division atGTE, giving the company 36 years of service. He was a member of St. Mary's ofthe Assumption Catholic Church. His other memberships included: lifetime memberof American Legion Post 534 of Wyalusing; Towanda V.F.W. Post 1568; the TowandaGun Club; the Sylvania Men's Club; and Sylvania Quarter Century Club. Frankloved woodworking, hunting, and was an avid golfer. He enjoyed bowling and wasa New York Yankee and Penn State fan. He coached little league and Jr. LegionBaseball. Frank especially found enjoyment in the time spent with hisgrandchildren. KINNEY -Mrs. NANCY KINNEY TERASCAVAGE, age 84, lifelong resident of Wyalusing, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2019, at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre. Nancy was born in Wyalusing, on March 15, 1935, a daughter of the late Ola Uriah and Eleanor Root Kinney. She married Joseph Lawrence Terascavage on Nov. 13, 1954. They resided in Homets Ferry, where they raised their three children, and enjoyed 54 years of marriage before Joe’s passing on June 26, 2009. Nancy was a member of St. Mary’s of the Assumption Catholic Church in Wyalusing. Nancy and Joe spent many summers camping with their two dogs, Dreyfus and Duke. She and Joe enjoyed playing bingo together, watching the Pennsylvania polka on Sunday nights, playing marbles with friends, and taking bus trips to casinos. KINNEY Robert Ola Kinney, age 76, ofWysox, died on Sunday afternoon, March 21, 2010, at the Wyalusing ValleyRetirement and Personal Care Home. Bob was born in Wyalusing Township, onJan. 30, 1934, a son of the late Ola Uriah Kinney and Eleanor ROOT Kinney. Heserved in the Korean War and after being discharged he worked at Steele'sGarage in Wyalusing, Pa. He later was employed at GTE Sylvania from which heretired. He married the former Deleora Ann Sitas of Laceyville, Pa. on Sept. 3,1955. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2005 and his lovingwife Deleora died
on Feb. 11, 2006. Bob was a member of St. Mary's of the AssumptionCatholic Church in Wyalusing, Pa. He was a dedicated husband and father andenjoyed hunting and fishing. He always had a large garden and shared its bountywith family and friends. KINSLEY Theresa Kinsley Huffman

age 90, well-known Wyalusing resident, died on Saturday,Feb. 25, 2012 at the Skilled Nursing Unit of the Memorial Hospital, Towanda,Pa. Theresa was born on the family farm in Wilmot Township, Pa., on Dec.23, 1921, a daughter of Dominic and Katharine Cummiskey Kinsley. She attendedthe Sciotovale and Grant Hill schools before graduating from Wyalusing HighSchool with honors. Following graduation, Theresa worked for the NorthPennsylvania Power Company in Towanda. She then worked many years as abookkeeper for the J.V. Taylor Company in Wyalusing. In 1972 Theresa becameemployed by the Taylor McCarty & Sons car dealership in Wyalusing as abookkeeper and worked there until her retirement on Dec. 31, 1983. OnAug. 30, 1947 she married Melbourne Huffman and they made their home for manyyears in Sugar Run before building a new home on the outskirts of Wyalusing in1971 where they enjoyed a view of the Susquehanna River and sitting together onthe front porch until Melbourne's passing on January 13, 1994. In herretirement "Aunt Theresa," as she was affectionately known by many inthe area, kept busy with daily activities at her church, sewing, crafting andattending to her flowers and vegetable garden. Theresa loved to travel andenjoyed many trips throughout the United States as well as Australia, Irelandand most recently the Holy Land. She enjoyed friendships with the variouspriests that served her parish over the years which continued for years after theyleft the area. She is survived by one sister, Anne and Vincent Antonichof Spring Lake, Mich.; and five brothers Gerald and Betty Kinsley of Orlando,Fla., Robert and Julyene Kinsley of Dunedin, Fla., Jack and Bonnie Kinsley ofNewark, Del., William Kinsley of Richmond, Va. and Donald Kinsley of Bowie,Md.; sisters-in-law Mary Kinsley of Alexandria, Va., Marilyn and Larry Knellerand Peggy Huffman, all of Wyalusing; brother-in-law Lloyd and Kathryn Huffmanof Wyalusing. age 93, of Laceyville, Pa.,died at his home on Saturday,March 3, 2012 with his loving family at his side. Daniel was born on Feb.4, 1919 in Terrytown, Pa., a son of the late John C.M. & Sarah Gross Kithcart.He met and married Evelyn I. Woodruff on Aug. 12, 1939. They recently justcelebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary. Evelyn predeceased him on Aug. 30,2011. Dan served in the Army in the Mediterranean Theater of Operationsduring World War II. After the sar he worked for the railroad in Laceyville fora few years. He moved to Browntown and began operating the family dairy farm onCanyon Road. He sold the farm in 1968 and went to work for PennDOT, from whichhe retired in 1985. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and making trips toCanada where he went moose hunting. He also made many trips to Pulaski, N.Y.where he fished for salmon. on Sunday, June 13, 2010, at Skilled Nursing Unit in Towanda, Pa. She was bornon Feb. 15, 1909, in Wilmot Township, a daughter of the late Thomas and Jane(Lemons) Knolles. On May 2, 1928, she married Cecil Steele at St. John'slu*theran Church in Wilmot, Pa. Her husband of 62 years died
in November 1990. She had opened a lunch room in the 1940's on Route 6, alongwith her husband's garage and gas station. Later she worked as a waitress atthe Towanda Motel. In 1957, she started to work for the American Meter Companyin Wyalusing, and worked for years until they closed. She worked a short time atArrow United. They sold in Wyalusing, and moved to Lovelton in 1970. Sheretired in 1971. That same year she worked as a bar maid for Joe Byrns at theLovelton Hotel. From 1972 - 1976, she worked for Joyce and Joni at Steele'sTavern. She loved making quilts and was an avid cross puzzler. Genevieve hasbeen a resident of Skilled Nursing Unit for two years, and her familyappreciates the wonderful care she has received. She is survived by a daughter,Marcia and her husband Ed Rathbun, of Georgia.; a daughter, Joyce Steele, ofLovelton; a son, Thomas Knolles, and wife Connie of North Carolina; an honorarydaughter, Joni Sweeney and her husband Dan of Lovelton; five grandchildren,Julie Rathbun Vilar, Jan Rathbun Clement, Susan Rathbun Kern, Jay Rathbun, andAbby Knolles Walker; 14 great-grandchildren; and by several nieces and nephews.Four brothers and three sisters also preceded her in death. 79, of North Towanda, Pa., died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011, atthe Bradford County Manor in West Burlington Twp., Pa. Raymond was bornFeb. 18, 1931 in Jersey City, N.J., the son of the late Walter and DorothyLawrence Kuhn. Raymond served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He wasemployed by GTE Sylvania in Towanda until his retirement. Following hisretirement, Raymond served as a contract computer programmer for the RobertPacker Hospital in Sayre. Raymond enjoyed playing musical instruments and was amember of the Wyalusing Adult Band for many years. KUHNLE –KATHRYN MILDRED KUHNLE HUFFMAN, age 86, passed away Oct. 11, 2014 at the Bradford County Manor. Kathryn was the second daughter of the late William Henry Kuhnle and Blanche Mildred Messersmith Kuhnle born on Nov. 26, 1927. She was the granddaughter of the late William Frederick and Elizabeth Schwoerer Kuhnle on the paternal side and the late Henry William Messersmith and Clara Heverly Messersmith on the maternal side. She grew up on the family farm in Wilmot Township in Bradford County. She enjoyed working with her father in the fields, milking and using the draft horses. She would recount the happy memories of the battery radio, canning, sewing, harvest time and a member of 4-H. She attended the one room Saxer School that was located very near her home and graduated from Dushore High School in 1945. She worked one winter at the Endicott Johnson baby shoe factory in Owego, N.Y., and another winter at Artistic Card Company in Elmira, N.Y., and one winter delivering bottled milk in Dushore.On April 3, 1948 she married Lloyd Stanley Huffman of Wyalusing, the man she fell in love with at the Colley Grange Square Dances. They continued to dance for 66 years. They set up house in the Welles' tenant house for three years, next on Route 6 for 40 years and then had a home built on Homet Heights. They had five children. She is survived by children Nanette Huffman, married to James Good, and grandchildren Melinda, Erica, Brianne and Jared Good. William Huffman married to Ruth Kerley, and granddaughter Laura Huffman married to Travis Hoffman, and great grandson Jason Hoffman. Adele Huffman married to Charles Hix and grandchildren Jeffery, Kristyna and Kevin Hix. Janet Huffman married to Thomas Nowak. David Huffman was predeceased his parents. She is also survived by a sister Helen Kuhnle Fiester and husband Fred, a sister in-law, Marilyn Huffman Kneller and husband, Larry and Margaret Huffman and numerous nieces and nephews.Kathryn was a lifelong member of the St. John's Lutheran Chapel of Wilmot, a part of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, helped with summer Bible School, was treasurer for Women's Working Society, and helped with the annual ham dinner and summer picnics. While her children were growing up she was a Cub Scout leader, helped with Girl Scouts, was a member of the PTA and Band Parents. She loved to quilt, and all family members have their keepsake quilts. She spent leisure time camping with her family. In later years she and Lloyd enjoyed going on cruises, bus trips, and flying with groups around the U.S. and abroad. After her children had been put through college she devoted her time to Lioness, proudly being named Lioness of the Year, volunteered at the Senior Center doing PEPPI classes for continued mobility, was a Guthrie Hospice volunteer for over 10 years, a member of AARP, Senior Citizens and ran the chicken barbeque booth for the Wyalusing Firemen's Carnival for over 40 years. Through all of those years she was a Stanley Home Products dealer for over 50 years. She also worked tirelessly beside Lloyd to make available Al-a-non and AA meetings in this area. Kathryn was predeceased by a foster brother, Henry Huffmaster who died on the Anzio Beach Head in 1942, and a son David Huffman and her husband Lloyd. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014, at St. John's Chapel in Wilmot on Kisner Road with the Reverend Phyllis A. Pelletier officiating. Lois Kunkle Rounsville, 74, of 3232 Pricetown Rd., Alsace Township, PA, died onTuesday, Jan. 22, 2002 at her residence. Born in Towanda, PA, she was thedaughter of Gertrude Arey Kunkle of Wyalusing and the late Robert M. Kunkle.She was married to Thomas Rounsville, who predeceased her. A graduate ofWyalusing High School and Mansfield University, she was a schoolteacher for theOley Valley Elementary School for 35 years. She belonged to SalemShalter’s Lutheran Church, Alsace Twp., and was very active in the church,serving as the organist, in the choir, church council and many otheractivities. She belonged to the Retired Teacher’ Association of Boyertownand Oley. Survivors include her mother, Gertrude Kunkle of Wyalusing; twosons, Thomas F. Rounsville, Sr. of Birdsboro and Timothy L. Rounsville ofReading; a sister, Rita Oliver of Wyalusing; two grandchildren and nieces andnephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 26 from SalemShalter’s Lutheran Church, 2032 Mt. Laurel Rd., Alsace Twp., with the Rev.Lesley J. Hand, pastor, officiating. Calling hours will be held from 10:30 to11:30 a.m. at the church. Services will be held on Sunday, Jan. 27 at 2p.m. at the Wyalusing United Methodist Church with the Rev. Beverly Davenportofficiating. Interment will be in Wyalusing Cemetery. KUNKLE Norman Ray Kunkle

age 86, of Wyalusing, Pa., died peacefully on Thursday,Feb. 3, 2011 at the Skilled Nursing Unit of the Memorial Hospital, Towanda,Pa., with his loving family at his side. Norm was born in Sugar Run, Pa., onJune 15, 1924, a son of the late Raymond and Frances Turner Kunkle. Hegraduated from the Wyalusing High School, a member of the class of 1942. Heentered the U.S. Navy in 1943 and served in the Asiatic Pacific and EuropeanAfrican theatres during World War II. He married Doris Dempsey of Mildred, Pa.,on Feb. 9, 1948. She predeceased him on Aug. 9, 2009. Norm owned andoperated the Middendorf Hotel in Wyalusing for 22 years and then retired fromPennDOT where he worked for 17 years. Surviving are a daughter, Norma LeeFarrell of Wyalusing, Pa.; two sons and daughter-in-law, Christopher (Theresa)Kunkle of Sugar Run, Pa., Kevin and Barbara Kunkle of Sugar Run, Pa.; fivegrandchildren, Scott (Anastasia) Farrell of Dushore, Pa., Malindia (Brad)Fassett of Laceyville, Pa., Tiffany (Nolan) Robinson of Laceyville, Pa., Tony(Melissa) Kunkle of Laceyville, Pa., Brett Wildoner of Meshoppen, Pa.; eightgreat- grandchildren: Derek Farrell, Vinny Baumunk, Collin Fassett, DaphneFassett, Parker Robinson, Piper Robinson, twins Curtis and Chloe Kunkle;brothers-in-law: Edward (Bud) Dempsey of Buffalo, N.Y., Gerald and SylviaDempsey of Dover, Del.; sisters-in-law Isabel Fitzgerald Schlegal of Camp Hill,Pa., Mary Finan of Dushore, Pa., Loretta Calaman of Martinsville, Va., JaneFreiler of Dushore, Pa., and Rosina Dempsey of Palm Bay, Fla. ATransferal Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 7, 2011 followed bya Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's of theAssumption Church, Wyalusing, Pa., with the Rev. Joseph J. Manarchuck, hispastor, presiding. Interment will be in the Wyalusing Cemetery.Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 6 at the P.
