Job Summary:The BerbeeWalsh Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking an experienced research coordinator to work as a leader on the Emergency Department Research Coordinator (EDRC) team. We collaborate with investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored teams to enroll Emergency Department patients into research studies. This individual will be responsible for the successful management, supervision, implementation and conduct of the research studies working directly with Emergency Department clinical staff to ensure studies are conducted optimally and with minimal disruption to the clinical care patients receive in the ED. The Program Coordinator will work to solve issues with study implementation, recruitment, and partner departments to ensure research continues to progress. In short, this individual will be expected to maintain day-to-day operations of the EDRC portfolio, including supporting recruitment and training for new team members. The Program Coordinator will be involved in identifying new opportunities and partnerships for the program, shaping the future directions of clinical research activities in acute-care environments.

Responsibilities: Serves as project coordinator of multi-site clinical trial activities (activation, maintenance, and closure processes). Serves as a liaison among the Principal Investigator/research team, participating sites, study sponsors, and other collaborators to administer protocols, ensuring goals and objectives are met according to set timelines. May support, guide, train, and lead team members in the implementation of study related activities. May manage external sites participating in trials.

• 10% Serves as point of contact for external institutions participating in clinical research studies. Ensures data is entered accurately by study team(s), which may include monitoring study records for completeness and accuracy
• 15% Collaborates with investigators, research staff, study sponsors, participating sites, and other collaborators to rapidly move clinical trial research protocols through the activation process
• 25% Interfaces with investigators, research staff, sponsors, participating sites, and collaborators to maintain clinical trials, including reviewing, evaluating and implementing protocol amendments, ensuring timelines and milestones are met, and performs proper study close-out procedures. Performs effective, clear, and timely communication to ensure proper trial management
• 10% Coordinates and conducts participating site visits
• 10% May serve as a site manager
• 10% Schedules , coordinates, and prepares for sponsor site visits, ensuring that all study records are available, complete, and accurate for sponsor review
• 10% Recruits, screens, selects, determines eligibility, and enrolls research participants.
• 5% Ensures the operation of the program through scheduling shifts, leading meetings, and billing study teams, among other administrative tasks.
• 5% Assist with training of staff.

Qualifications:Required:

• Minimum 1-year recruiting participants into human-subjects research studies in an emergency department within an academic medical center.
• Documented experience in research, project development, and implementation.
• Documented experience with obtaining, processing, storing, and shipping biological specimens.

Preferred:

• Experience training and supporting multi-disciplinary staff or teams.
• Knowledge of government regulations and guidelines with respect to clinical and community research.
• Prior experience working with populations diverse in race/ethnicity, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, and education level.

Work Type:Full Time: 100%

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Salary:Minimum $53,000 ANNUAL (12 months)

Depending On QualificationsThe starting salary for the position is $53,000 but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Additional Information:This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.
