🎀 5 LESSONS FROM THE BARBIE MOVIE THAT YOU CAN USE IN YOUR PROFESSIONAL LIFE 🎀— Ok Deb, you're going a little bit too far now 😐🔥Maybe the heatwave here in Europe is affecting my brain, but you know that I see HR and recruitment in every single thing in my life, so I couldn't help talking about this trending topic.I went to the movies and watched 'Barbie' last weekend, and in spite of my personal opinion about the movie I have to admit that it gave me lots of different insights. It doesn't matter if you liked the movie or not, or even if you couldn't care less, but there are definitely some important things that you can take from the plastic doll live action adventure and apply in your career 💁🏽⚠️ SPOILER ALERT ⚠️ (don't tell me that I didn't warn you!)👩 Self-knowledge is the key to success: Barbie's existential crisis is the first step to her self development and progress. She is bothered by the fact she's a stereotypical Barbie and needs to go on a journey to understand who she really is to become a better version of herself.💪 Don't be afraid of taking risks: staying at Barbieland would be easier and more comfortable, but hey - that would not solve the problem! Get out of your comfort zone if you want to achieve amazing results!😎 Be confident, but stay humble: Barbie thought that she was saving little girls' lives, but that was not exactly true. Sometimes we think we're kicking asses at work, there's nothing we can do better and everybody loves us. Well... I'm not saying that you should worry about what people think all the time, but take the gift of feedback and make the best out of it.👀 Don't take anything for granted: we could never imagine that Ken would take over their world, right? Sometimes we think that we have it all and things are never gonna change, but we need to be ready for all the possible scenarios. The world is in constant transformation!✨ Team work makes the dream work: only after all the Barbies decided to work together they could take the power back. No matter what is your objective, working together with your team will always make things better. Collaborating will make you go faster and further!I truly believe that we can always learn from anything that we see in pop culture, as it reflects our society. What about you? Have you watched the Barbie movie? Let's chat 🗣#barbie #barbiethemovie #barbiemovie #barbieworld #barbiemarketing

Look at the picture below ⬇ and tell me what you see.(no, I haven't gone crazy, trust me and keep reading!)'Oh, one more of those silly LinkedIn posts when people try to teach huge lessons about life from stupid sh*t 🙄' - you might be thinking. Well, maybe it is, but I swear I won't go like '10 lessons that I've learn from assembling furniture'.Yes, this is just a shoe rack. Nothing more than that 🙂 it arrived yesterday together with lots of other house stuff I got for my new home.So why am I posting it here? 🤷♀️ Manual work was never one of my biggest talents, and whenever I needed to do anything related to it - assembling furniture, fixing a small hole on a piece of clothing or even tying my shoes - I immediately started feeling anxiety 😥 📦 When our package arrived, I immediately assigned the shoe rack task to my boyfriend, as he is skilled in that area (I use to joke that being Swedish automatically gave him IKEA genes that make him a pro in assembling furniture).Well, the instructions that came with this item were absolutely crap 💩 and after watching thousands of YouTube videos he just got too frustrated and gave up - 'for sure we didn't get all the pieces for this thing, let's Karen with the vendor!'However, I wasn't willing to accept the defeat so easily. I mean, I brought myself to Europe when everybody said I couldn't 💁♀️ so what is a cheap shoe rack anyways?Long story short, after a couple of hours ⌛some cuts in my hands and a lot of swearing words in Portuguese, I managed to put together this beautiful piece of furniture, and now our shoes and jackets are perfectly organized.Ok, why am I posting it here? Firstly, to brag about my abilities (maybe living in Denmark is automatically giving me an IKEA and LEGO license?), and secondly, to tell you that sometimes we can get positively surprised when we try doing things that we always believed we weren't good for 😊 📢 Oh, and talking about trying new things, I have some exciting new challenges for you here: https://lnkd.in/dWSu_UG4Enough talking for now. It's Friday, let's open a beer 🍺 #skills #development #recruiting #opportunities #opportunity #linkedin #challenges

🗣 You're having an interview, and the recruiter is asking you all the types of questions they can think of. You think you're answering well, overall doing a decent job, dodging some bullets here and there...When finally THAT question 😥 arises:'Can you please share with me your expected salary?' 🤑 BOOM 💥 let the games begin. The rest of the dialogue usually goes like this:😌 I would like to ask you what the company has to offer.😎 I understand it but we don't have a specific range for the position, so I would really like to hear what is your expectation.🤔 Well, for me it's important to hear from you first. It's a chicken and egg 🐔 🥚 situation, until one of the parties says 'OK, OK, I SURRENDER, this is the salary I offer/expect'.Sounds a little bit pointless, right? Well, good news is that it doesn't need to be like that 😉 💸 I wasn't surprised with the results of my last poll, in which 70% of people said that the salary range should be specified in the job ad. My opinion about is that mmmm... It depends. This type of information will not always be very useful to candidates, and believe me when I say that no, not all the companies are taking the p*ss with you if they add a range between 20,000 and 50,000 EUR a year for example - I swear!🙏 Sometimes managers are open for candidates in all levels of expertise, and obviously the salaries offered will vary in that case. What I want to tell you is that YES ✅ you need to know what salary you are going to ask when you go for an interview.Hear me out: companies are ALWAYS try to negotiate with you. It's business after all 🤷♀️ so how can you prepare yourself to answer to that tricky question?🕵♀️ Investigate the company you're willing to join🌎 Research on the specific country and city you're applying 🤝 Exchange information with other professionals in your area📊 Understand your expenses, financial goals and objectives'But if I tell them a salary, they will pay me less than their salary range!' 🙄 take some to think: are you really informed about the market and what you should be earning? Are you thinking low of yourself? Why are you afraid of asking for what you DESERVE?Information is power, and the more prepared you are to discuss your compensation, less likely people will try to fool you. And if they even try, this is not the type of team you want to join, I hope 💁♀️ Candidates, TAKE THE POWER TO YOU ✨ and see the magic happen.#tips #salary #negotiation #linkedin #recruiter #recruiting #opportunities #opportunityknocks

Let's set LinkedIn on fire 🔥 this Monday with a burning question about a very sensitive topic:SALARY RANGES 💸 😅 It's funny how this is still a tabu in recruitment processes, that involves not only different types of opinions but also mixed emotions - some people get surprised, others get angry and even get shocked.Despite all of that, we have to admit that this is an important discussion that cannot be avoided or postponed, therefore... Leave your opinion on the poll and comments below⬇Happy Monday! 🌻 #salary #salaries #negotiation #recruitment #interview #interviewtips #recruiting #opportunity #opportunityknocks

THIS ⤵️ might be the reason why you're not ❌ getting any job interviews (keep reading to understand...)I work in a multicultural company, therefore, it is not uncommon that I hire for a variety of roles that require knowledge in different languages 🌍 🗣 However, considering we're an international team, the official language across our offices is English - so it's expected that you will be able to speak it at a business level besides your native one.Whenever I open a new position, I always add to the job description that we would like to receive CVs in ENGLISH, in bold and capital letters to make sure that people won't miss this info. But the amount of candidates who send CVs in different languages is just disappointing 😖When you send your CV in some other language rather than English I immediately think 💭 that...📜 You haven't read the job description🤸♀️ You're just applying for jobs randomly with no real interest🙅🏽 You're not able to speak English at a professional levelDon't make assumptions such as 'the job is for Spanish speakers, so my team surely will speak Spanish' - this is often not true! And besides that, the recruiter who is reading your CV and shortlisting it perhaps doesn't know your native language 🤷🏽😥 It's a pity to think that you might be a good fit for the role but the recruiter doesn't get to know you in first place!Compromises from now on: take some time to translate your CV to English, if you feel confident in the language, and go get that job that you want and deserve 💪🏽And maybe 👀 your dream job is here: https://www.gigmedia.com/📷 PHOTO of the day: a beautiful park close to home here in CPH, that if I try to type in the name or say it I will fail miserably but... So beautiful and peaceful, we even have real ducks 🦆 #jobsearch #jobseekers #opportunity #opportunityknocks #opportunities #cv

On Wednesdays we wear pink 💁🏽 and we also share some thoughts here on LinkedIn!🌍 The world knows by now that I moved to Denmark, as I told literally everybody (and now I'm just dreaming that I'm famous worldwide it seems). I couldn't be happier and I'm discovering new things about this lovely country every single day!But as much as I'm excited about my new challenges and grateful for being here, sometimes I feel like I don't deserve it 😢I often get these intrusive thoughts in my mind:😖 This is too good to be true!😰 I'm not good enough professionally to be here.😥 I don't have EU citizenship, I don't belong in here!☹️ I'm happy now but something bad is going to happen, I can feel it!Behind the scenes, I've been battling with anxiety for a long time so far, and thanks to all the mental health support from amazing professionals that have been with me in this journey I feel like I deal with it well on a daily basis. But no matter how prepared you feel to fight against it, let me tell you a secret: it will never disappear completely 🤷🏽So what do I do whenever I want to tell the intrusive thoughts a huge F*CK 🙅🏽 OFF?I do something that my therapist always says: I give myself some grace ❤️Stop ⛔️ being so harsh on yourself all the time! No, you're not getting stronger by doing it - you're just destroying your self-confidence. Trust me, buddy, it is ok to tell yourself:💪🏽 I'm strong, I'm powerful and I got this!🙋🏽 I am AMAZING and I'm proud of myself!⭐️ I'm very good at x, y or z!Whenever you feel like you don't deserve something good that happened to you, remember: you are VALUABLE ✨🗣 Constantly repeating it to myself as well so I won't forget btw!Happy Wednesday, you got this! 🌻#expat #livingabroad #workingabroad #workineurope #opportunity #impostersyndrome #selfesteem

It is time to reveal what is my new home - and I have to say majority of you were wrong 🙊 👀 Are you readyyyyy? (I wanna hear a loud YESSSSSSSS 💃🏽)Hello, Copenhagen 🇩🇰! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙇🏽 I will sound terribly cliché now, but since I was a kid I dreamed about moving to Europe - and every time I thought about Europe, I only had the Nordic countries in my mind.Finding our place in the world 🌍 is a fun and exciting journey, but definitely not easy. I can still remember how many nights I cried thinking that I would never belong somewhere, and well... Here I am!I know it's early as h*ll to say that I belong in here, but... I already feel a special connection with this place, for sure 💖Now let me share with you some of my first impressions:✨ This is the cleanest and most organized city I've ever been to - which makes my military soul more than happy!💧 How cool is to be able to drink tap water, huh? No more endless plastic bottles, difficult to carry and bad for the environment!🚝 Trains, trains and more trains! Efficient, reliable and fast. They're never late and they never let you down (well, so far so good, I hope I won't jinx it). I get on for a ride and just have fun going to the office. Weeeeeeeeeeeeee!🙋🏽 People in general are nice, polite and helpful, and I'm feeling very welcome here!🍺 Omg, how good it is to live in a place where everybody is excited about beer o'clock! There's much more still to find out about Copenhagen and Denmark, and I'm very excited about what's coming up 😄💁🏽 And get used now to my posts full of pictures of these stunning views and places!Happy Friday! Is it time for a beer already? 🍻😂#relocation #expat #newhome #opportunity #opportunityknocks #opportunities #workineurope #copenhagen #denmark
