With Office 365 installed, you can gain access to not only Microsoft Office's famous programs but also to newcloud-basedfeatures that are set out to change the way you work on your PC.
Like all things, Office 365 can have someerrors, especially during theinstallation process.
While some can be fixed quickly and easily, others can be problematic and might require further attention to fully deal with them.
To help you handle these problems, we have compiled a dedicated troubleshooter for Office 365.
Here is what you should do when you encounter problems with Office 365.
Before you begin, it is recommended that you checkExchange 2007 End of Support Roadmap. This service is included in Office 365, but since it has reached the end of support, you shouldn’t expect much help from the support staff.
When there istrouble, it is important to determine which plan you have subscribed to, Office for home orOffice for business.
The issues you may encounter, along with the solutions to each of them, are highly dependent on the plan, so it is a good idea to check beforehand.
Additionally, if you are theadmin of Office 365for your organization, your responsibility, along with your rights, will expand a bit as you will be able to do a few extra tasks. This means that you can take one step further to troubleshoot your organization’s Office 365.
This guide will mainly concern your tasks and issues as an admin.
Try this before you start
Before youstart diagnosingyour Office 365 problems by yourself, it is a good idea to check out the Support and Recovery Assistant for Office 365 tool.

If the recovery tool could not help you getrid of the problemsat all, it’s time to dig deeper into othertroubleshooting tasks.
You are the admin and there is no option to install Office, Project, Visio
Having thelicenseis the first important step to install your Office, but in some cases, even if you do have the license, there is still no option toinstall the software. The reason they give you is that because you don’t have a license!
This issue happens due to a delay in the server, and your license has not been registered yet. To fix this, you could log out then log back again. The problem should be fixed by now.
If it is not fixed, perhaps you have not assigned the license to either you or others. The first step you should take now is to check your license to see if it has been registered or not. You can do the following step to check your license.
- Check to see if you have a license
- Go toportal.office.comand sign in with your account. Be noted that if you cannot log in to your account, it is likely that you have signed in to the wrong Office 365 Service.
- Go toSettings, thenMy App Settings, then Office 365.
- Choose Subscriptions on the My account page.
- You will then see the licenses that you own listed on the page, including licenses forOffice, Project,Visio,etc. You should also be able to see The latest desktop version of Office in the list. If you don’t, consider assign licenses to other users.
Do note, however, that not all Office plans come with all Office applications.

As an admin to Office 365, you have full rights to change to another subscription plan if your organization happens to be using one of the incomplete plans. Additionally, aside from the plans you already have, you can actually buy a new plan which includes a full installation of Office for those who need it in your organization,
You recently switched plans and now you suddenly received a message that you can’t use Office anymore
When you switch the plan for your Office 365, a new installation is often required toapplythe new changes. If any user in your organization sees anerror noticeregarding this matter, you could assist them in deleting the old version and installing a new one with the new plan integrated.
MicrosoftOffice takes forever to install
MSOffice can encounter an error or delay in the download process when you attempt toinstallthe application. To avoid wasting time, we recommend that you should use Officeoffline installerto finish the installation process.
Installing the latest version of Office on more than 5 computers
Upon receiving thelicenseto use Office, you will be allowed to install the application on5 computers at max.If you want to install Office on a sixth computer, you will have to deactivate the license on one of the5 other computers.This does not mean that MSOffice will be uninstalled on the said computer, it just simply means that you will not be able to use Office until thelicense is reactivated.
Setting up your organization with Office 365 for business

Upgrading Office to the latest version for users in your organization
Using old versions of Office is not recommended. If there is anoutdateduser in your organization, you should help them to update to the latest version to ensure the best user experience.
Deploying Office to multiple computers in your organization
This step should only be done byIT prossince it can involve some bits of tweaking. The tool you want to use for this task isOffice Development Tool, which allows you to download Office applications to your local network. Afterward, you will be able to deploy Office to all computers within the network using your usualnetwork developmentmethod.
Alternatively, you can ask everyone toinstalltheir own Office bysigning in to Office 365 portal using their accounts.They will then have to follow some steps to install Office on their own PC or Mac.
Managing licenses for your organization
Every Office user needs alicensein order to gain access to the application. As the admin of your organization’s licenses, you will be in charge ofmanaging these licenses.
When a new userinstalls Office 365, it will be your responsibility toassign a license to them.Alternatively, if a user hasrequested another license,you will have toassign them with a new one.If a user does not need a license anymore, you can remove their license to allocate this license to a new user.
If the organization should requiremore licenses, you canbuy moreas well. Conversely, if there is no need for a license and the organization wishes to remove it, you can do it as well.
Activating volume license editors in Office
As the admin, you will also be in charge of activating the licenses of volume editions of Office. There are two ways to do this, either byMultipleActivation Keysor Key Management Service. This step will be covered in detail in another article.
Viewing the status of your services
Checking the status of your services is the first step to ensure the continued use of Office services. As the admin, you will have to constantly monitor the status of your Office 365 service health.
